The UK has received over one million cumulative asylum applications worldwide since 2001
The cumulative number of asylum applications to the UK has exceeded one million, with Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, and Albania being major contributors. African countries such as Eritrea, Somalia, Zimbabwe, the DR Congo, and Nigeria have also been in the top ten. These are the top ten nationalities in the past 23 years.

Indians had the most Canadian work permits with a 32% share; Nigeria was among the top ten as of December 2023
As of December 2023, Indians accounted for one in three holders of Canadian work permits, representing 32% of the total (1.76 million). Ukraine followed with almost 10%. Nigeria came 8th, with 2% of the permit holders.

Nigerian students rank third in Canadian study permit recipients for 2023, surpassing Philippines and Nepal
In 2023, Nigerian students emerged as the third-highest recipients of Canadian study permits, behind India and China. This marked a jump from their fifth position in 2022, when 16,105 study permits were issued to its citizens. India maintained its position as the top source country, followed by China. The Philippines, Nepal, and France retained their places in the top ten.

Top 15 inflation rates in the world; Nigeria ranks 13th globally, with an inflation rate of 31.7%
Inflation rate in Nigeria increased to 31.7% in February 2024. Nigeria has the 13th highest inflation rate out of 186 countries and territories as of February 2024. The data showcases Argentina leading with 276%, followed by Lebanon and Syria. Seven of the top fifteen are African.

Deliberate Internet and social media shutdowns from Jan to Jul 2023 have cost the affected economies an estimated $2.1 billion combined, with Ethiopia the most affected. Asian and sub-Saharan African countries are the hardest hit.
