Sudan is the leading country with the highest total number of individuals requiring assistance, alongside its UN targets among African nations

Every year, the United Nations has a designated share of individuals in need that they aim to support from various countries. Among African nations, Sudan has the highest number of individuals in need and the largest UN support target for 2025. In Sudan, there are approximately 30.4 million individuals in need, 20.9 million of whom the UN wants to assist. Following Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo has 21.2 million individuals in need, with the UN aiming to support 11 million.

 

The country with the smallest number of individuals in need, as well as the lowest UN target, is Mozambique, which has a total of 1.3 million individuals in need and 1.1 million expected to receive support. Nigeria has 7.8 million individuals in need, with the UN looking to assist 3.6 million. Nigeria ranks tenth highest for number of individuals in need and the total number of UN targets in Africa.
