Using insights from over 1.5 billion speed tests collected worldwide by BestBroadbandDeals.co.uk between July 2023 and June 2024, a snapshot of Africa’s internet landscape shows clear leaders and gaps. South Africa tops the chart with an average download speed of 42.42 Mbps, comfortably ahead of Eswatini (37.23 Mbps) and Rwanda (32.69 Mbps). Mauritius (31.12 Mbps) and Botswana (29.52 Mbps) also post strong results, crossing or near the 30 Mbps threshold.
Further down the list, Nigeria registers 27.62 Mbps, while Madagascar (22.57 Mbps), Lesotho (20.71 Mbps), and Seychelles (20.09 Mbps) show more modest speeds. At the bottom, Morocco records 19.61 Mbps, less than half of South Africa’s performance.
