A new World Bank Enterprise Survey shows that Nigerian businesses continue to face major infrastructure bottlenecks in 2025.

The report finds that over 8 in 10 firms (82.5%) experience frequent electrical outages, making power the most common operational challenge. About 27.5% of firms identify transportation as a severe constraint, while 21.7% deal with internet disruptions. A smaller share — 7.7% — report damage to assets from extreme weather, and 3% face water shortages.

The survey, conducted between February and September 2025, covered 1,043 firms across Nigeria and reflects responses from business owners and top managers.

Overall, the findings highlight that infrastructure reliability remains a critical barrier to business productivity and resilience in Nigeria.
