Over the past decade, Africa’s millionaire hotspots have shifted significantly, with Mauritius’ Black River region standing out after its millionaire population more than doubled—rising from around 540 a decade ago to 1,100 today, a net gain of over 560 new millionaires.
Marrakech follows with a 67% surge, growing by roughly 680 new millionaires to reach 1,700, thanks to its flourishing tourism, luxury property market, and international appeal. In South Africa, lifestyle-driven regions such as the Whale Coast (+600 millionaires) and the Cape Winelands (+1,100) have grown steadily, while Cape Town, despite a smaller growth rate of 33%, added the largest absolute increase of all—over 2,100 new millionaires—bringing its total to 8,500 today.
These gains reflect how political stability, lifestyle appeal, and investment opportunities have reshaped Africa’s wealth map.
