Lagos continues to dominate Nigeria’s cinema industry, generating ₦5.8 billion—more than the rest of the country combined. The South-South stands out as the fastest-growing market outside Lagos, earning ₦2.1 billion, nearly 50% more than the South-West. Meanwhile, Abuja proved to be a major cinema hub, grossing ₦852 million—almost four times the total revenue from the North-East, North-West, and North Central combined.
Despite these successes, cinema penetration in northern Nigeria remains significantly low. The North-East, for instance, contributed just ₦2.4 million, accounting for less than 0.05% of the national total. This stark contrast highlights the ongoing disparity in cinema access and audience engagement across different regions.
