Between 2010 and 2023, over 47 million lives were saved globally through tuberculosis treatment. Of these, Africa alone accounted for 11 million lives saved, making up nearly a quarter (23%) of the global total. Tuberculosis treatment has been consistently saving lives, especially in countries where HIV weakens the immune system and increases vulnerability. The gains in Africa, where the overlap of both diseases is highest, show how targeted treatment and strong public health coordination can quietly shift the odds for millions.
