South Africa's $6.25 billion of Chinese FDI stock at the end of 2024 was larger than DR Congo's $4.27 billion and Nigeria's $2.72 billion, and together those three held about 30% of the continent's $43.80 billion.
The top ten countries accounted for about 64%, so Chinese investment was concentrated in a few markets: Niger ($2.45 billion), Mozambique ($2.28 billion), Angola ($2.13 billion), Mauritius ($2.11 billion), Ethiopia ($2.04 billion), Kenya ($1.91 billion) and Algeria ($1.86 billion) made up the rest of the top ten.
