Nigeria’s data infrastructure is heavily concentrated in a single location. Of the country's 25 data centres, 21 are located in Lagos, accounting for 84% of the total. Abuja has three, and Kano has only one. This shows how unevenly spread Nigeria’s digital backbone is, and how efforts are mostly concentrated in one city.
This reflects Lagos’ role as the country’s commercial and connectivity hub. Businesses, financial institutions, telecom operators, and cloud providers cluster where demand, submarine cable access, and network traffic are highest.
