Nigeria's exports amounted to ₦35.9 trillion in 2023, with the Netherlands its top destination accounting for ₦4.5 trillion, followed by Spain with ₦3.3 trillion. India and the United States were also top destinations. Here are Nigeria's top export destinations in 2023.

Top ten cocoa-producing countries in the world in 2020
In 2020, 5.2 million metric tons of cocoa were produced globally, with four African countries — Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, and Cameroon — accounting for 68% of the produce.

  • 1990-2000: In this decade, China and India accounted for over 50% of the world's total output, with other dominant rice producers being Indonesia, Vietnam, and Bangladesh, with production figures falling between 20 and 30 million metric tons.
  • 2001-2010: China and India remained the two top producers, with China producing 140 million metric tons annually and India 100 million metric tons annually. 
  • 2011-2020: China and India continue to lead at about 150 million and 105 million metric tons, respectively. 
  • 2021-2024: China and India continued to lead. China reached 144.62 million metric tons in 2023/2024, and India accounted for 137.83 million metric tons.

India accounted for 88% of the value of global human hair exports in 2022; the top four countries are Asian

Nigeria and Egypt are the only African countries projected to be in the top 15 economies by the year 2075
Per projections made by Goldman Sachs, China should lead the global economy in terms of GDP by the year 2075, closely followed by India and the US. Nigeria and Egypt are the only African countries expected to be in the top 15 by that time.

Nigeria accounted for less than 1% of CO2 emissions in 2022 among the top ten most populous countries
The top ten most populous countries as of 2022 emitted a total of 23b tonnes of CO2 from fossil fuels, with China accounting for 49%, and the US, 22%. Pakistan, Nigeria, and Bangladesh each contributed less than 1% of the total.

Although Nigeria had the third highest number of learners on Coursera enroled in courses related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) as of March 2023, the country had the highest year-on-year increase — almost double. Five African countries were in the top ten increasing STEM learners on the e-learning platform.
