Nigeria's personal remittance inflows increased to $22.8 billion in 2025, up 3.0% from $22.1 billion in 2024.
The increase extends the recovery from the pandemic-era low of $17.2 billion in 2020, although inflows remain 6.3% below the record $24.3 billion received in 2018.
Despite the higher inflow, remittances became slightly less significant relative to the size of the economy. They accounted for 7.8% of Nigeria's GDP in 2025, down from 8.8% in 2024, but remained well above the 4.0% recorded in 2023.
The figures highlight the continued importance of money sent home by Nigerians abroad to the economy.
