Metre installation data from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) shows that Nigeria has installed roughly 3.64 million meters across all frameworks — including MAF, MAP, NMMP, vendor financing, and DisCo financing — since 2019. Ikeja stands out as the strongest performer with 823,000 installations, followed by Ibadan and Abuja, which also show strong contributions to national metering progress.
At the other end, Kaduna, Yola, and Aba Power recorded significantly fewer installations, reflecting weaker implementation capacity and slower metering rollout. The wide gap between leading and lagging DisCos highlights significant inconsistencies in metering penetration across the country. Overall, while progress has been made, metre deployment remains uneven and continues to impact billing accuracy and customer trust.
