  • Asia-Pacific Dominance: The region (Japan, Philippines, South Korea, Australia, and Papua New Guinea) accounts for 41 bases, nearly 1/3 of the global total.
  • The Asia-Pacific region hosts 41 U.S. bases, while Europe (Italy, Germany, Poland, UK) has 23. This indicates a growing strategic pivot towards the Pacific compared to traditional European deployments.

One of the major concerns in the workplace in 2024 is about how artificial intelligence (AI) will redefine jobs. Only a small percentage of people in Nigeria are not sure about how AI will affect their jobs, with another 90.8% believing that they are safe and will work together with AI.

The number of people with birth certificates in the Nothern region is lower than the national percentage
Only 30.2% of the Nigerian population report having a birth certificate, and there are wide disparities on a zonal level. The North East has the country's lowest rate at 19.7%, compared with the 53.5% in the South West. Overall, Northern zones fall below the national rate, while the Southern regions outperform the national rate.

Africa has 3.8 million in forced labor and 3.2 million in forced marriage, contributing to modern slavery.
On this International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, it’s important to face the harsh realities of modern slavery worldwide. As of 2022, 22 million people globally were forced into marriages, and 27.6 million were subjected to forced labour. Africa alone accounted for 3.8 million in forced labour and 3.2 million in forced marriages, making up a significant number of this global issue. Africa’s numbers were lower than Asia & the Pacific’s, with a total of 29.3m modern slaves. In Africa, people face daily struggles in exploitative labour conditions, from children forced to work on farms to women coerced into early or abusive marriages. These realities explain the broader statistics and call for efforts to address modern slavery in all its forms.

APC wins all local governments in the Ondo State gubernatorial elections
In Ondo State, residents across all 18 local government areas came out to perform their civic duties in the recent gubernatorial election. With over two million registered voters, only 508,963 voted during the election; 11,886 were invalid, leaving 497,077 as valid votes. The APC secured victory in every LGA, earning a total of 366,781 votes. Meanwhile, the PDP, the closest competitor, garnered 117,845 votes. Together, the APC and PDP had a total valid vote count of 484,626.
